Doom and Gloom

I know the dust has yet to settle. And I mean no disrespect. But They drove me to it.
Today's attacks in London will soon be spun for political gain - in fact it's already begun. The bombings will be warped to help do what the jingoists in Washington (and likewise in London) have recently found increasingly difficult; justifying the losses in Iraq and Afghanistan. I can already see the wags in the capital quietly wringing their hands with a smile of malicious schadenfreude, while appearing in front of cameras condemning the attacks as "unthinkable" and "deplorable."

I know that there are too many who secretly relish the fact that they can point at the grisly images coming out of London and say; "See, THAT is why we fight."

NO, THAT is why it's past time to acknowledge that it's our own narrow-minded foreign policy that causes this. It's our own intolerance of other cultures that causes this. It's our own strong-arm tactics and our own greed and our own exploitative nature and our own unwillingness to accept that we are not the patriarch of the world family that causes this.

THAT is why it's past time to consider the consequences of our own actions.
Evil begets evil begets evil.

I think that was the worst arguement I ever read on this site.

You are agreeing with the terrorists by saying we 'caused' these bombings in London (or the USA) with our foreign policy.

The next step in logic is that we should reverse our foreign policy, which would of course comply with the terrorist demands.

And then what? We've got a bunch of extremists telling the world what to do and if the world doesn't follow then its our own fault for 'causing' lunatics to intentionally kill innnocent civilians.

Sorry, but blaming US foreign policy for the actions of the criminally insane and suggesting we change our course to appease them is ridiculous.

I'm certainly not suggesting anything as drastic as an abrupt Mideast pullout. And I must say, there is a large portion of our foreign policy that is in serious need of reprise, like that whole invading-sovereign-nations-under-false-pretenses bit. All I really meant was that more people need to consider why the "criminally insane," are targeting us. I wish I could say "they hate freedom" and vilify millions with one sweeping phrase, but I'm simply incapable.

If that's the worst argument you've ever read on this site, you haven't been reading very closely.
