Inherit the Wind
Hurray! Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the indictment of John Scopes. Boy, it's amazing how far we've come since then. Things are much better now. We're such an enlightened society. Yep, you won't hear people teaching about how Satan planted the dinosaur bones these days. Oh no, now we know the truth.

as to your "how far" link:
claiming that evolution is a theory CAN BE a scientific statement, I work in a scientific field, I call it a theory.
By calling it a theory it doesn't make something less true, it's just calling it what it is.
all that time and money wasted over stickers...how silly.

the sticker proclaiming that evolution is only a theroy is stupid, regardless of how you feel about the debate. all science is a theroy. why single out evolution? the sticker implies that somehow the theroy of evolution is less correct than other scientific theories. Intelligent design is not science, that is why you can't teach it in a science class. There is a good article about this "science" in the New Yorker this week.

yes, ANY time and money used for stickers is wasting time & money. either to put them on or take them off, and all the waste in the court system- really a waste.
to rectify everything they should move textbooks to digital media so it can change with science easily...although it would then be easier for Big Brother to then claim hold to inventing airplanes & helicopters.
but digital media for learning this stuff would help with fluidity- we're doing it now and it's much more interactive than most education i've had, besides the covert ops camp i went to in '88.
