Due to various personal, technical, and logistical issues, blogging here will likely remain rare for the next few weeks. Thank you for the emails wishing me well and inquiring after my well-being, as well as for the somewhat-threatening ones that demand I "bring the funny." I'd also like to offer an especial heartfelt 'hello' to the individual who simply wrote; "Dance, liberal monkey, dance."

If you need a fix, I encourage you to visit the excellent sites in my blogroll, and if you're really desperate, you can always peruse nine months worth of archives. . .

Don't fear; I shall once again pollute the blogosphere with my spiteful brand of deconstructive diatribe. But not today.

Doom and Gloom

I know the dust has yet to settle. And I mean no disrespect. But They drove me to it.
Today's attacks in London will soon be spun for political gain - in fact it's already begun. The bombings will be warped to help do what the jingoists in Washington (and likewise in London) have recently found increasingly difficult; justifying the losses in Iraq and Afghanistan. I can already see the wags in the capital quietly wringing their hands with a smile of malicious schadenfreude, while appearing in front of cameras condemning the attacks as "unthinkable" and "deplorable."

I know that there are too many who secretly relish the fact that they can point at the grisly images coming out of London and say; "See, THAT is why we fight."

NO, THAT is why it's past time to acknowledge that it's our own narrow-minded foreign policy that causes this. It's our own intolerance of other cultures that causes this. It's our own strong-arm tactics and our own greed and our own exploitative nature and our own unwillingness to accept that we are not the patriarch of the world family that causes this.

THAT is why it's past time to consider the consequences of our own actions.
Evil begets evil begets evil.

I would have gone with "Too hot for print," but I'd say he's nailed it fairly well.

Shutdown Rundown

"Stop your licensing, your zoning,
Your copiers, your faxes,
You won't build my racino,
But I won't raise your taxes!

I'll shut down rest areas,
Libraries, and road information,
'cuz Speaker Steve Sviggum
Can't spell 'legislashun!'

State parks are open,
So keep hugging trees,
But you'd be better off,
If you'd just pay my 'fees!'

Blame Democrats and liberals,
And mostly Dean Johnson,
If you want better living,
Find a home in Wisconsin!

So go home, state workers,
I'll say with a twitch;
"I'm Tim Pawlenty,
And I speak for the rich!'"
